Migraine headache treatment: Health tips on migraine headache treatment

Migraine headache treatment:

Migraine headache treatment involves acute (abortive) and preventive (prophylactic) therapy. Patients with frequent attacks usually require both. Measures directed toward reducing migraine headache triggers are also generally advisable.

In addition to prophylactic (preventive) medications, you can help prevent migraine headache by regularly getting enough sleep, avoiding foods that trigger migraine headache (in some people), and learning behavioral techniques shown to be effective in migraine headache treatment episodes or lessening the duration or severity of each attack.

Food and drinks that are commonly believed to worsen migraine headache include chocolate, red wine, MSG, meat with sodium nitrates, aged cheese, wheat, oranges, eggs, tea and coffee, milk, corn syrup, and yeast. Reducing or stopping the intake of these foods may lessen migraine headache from occurring in some people.
